Last Sunday, I called up my friend Daisy and asked her a favor.
“Do you think you could take some pictures for me later? You know for my blog.” I said inwardly cringing at what her reaction might be.
“Yeah I would love to!” she answered with an unmatched and unexpected amount of enthusiasm.
When I arrived at her house, I couldn’t shake my overwhelming insecurity. I had just asked my friend to conduct a photo shoot for me. What am I doing with my life?
“This is going to be so much fun!” she half yelled when she got in the car. Again, her genuine enthusiasm encouraged me.
This summer I often felt the same way. One too many tearful exchanges occurred between my mom and I.
“Anneke the beginning is always hard.”
This project often makes me feel overwhelmed or stressed. Believe it or not, consistently curating and editing pictures is much harder than it looks.
That being said, it would be much harder if I didn’t have people like Daisy or my mom helping me out along the way.
Once you have found someone who is willing to take pictures of you wearing a blanket for a scarf despite the confused looks pedestrians are giving you or someone who is willing to listen to you consistently complain about issues out of her control, hold on to those people.
Thanks to their help and the help of many others, I am still sane and comfortingly reminded “the beginning is always hard.”
